Robert was born in 1878. He passed away in 1943.

Maryborough Chronicle, Wide Bay and Burnett Advertiser (Qld. : 1860 - 1947), Wednesday 21 July 1943, page 3. [1] MR. R. SMITH.— a pioneer identity of the Isis district, Mr. Robert Smith (65), died at the Childers Hospital, writes our Childers correspondent. The late Mr. Smith, who was born at Howard, was a timber-getter in his younger days but for the last 30 years had been cane farming at Apple Tree Creek. He built and owned Smith's Hall public recreation and meeting centre at Apple Tree Creek. He was a prominent cricketer of the district in his prime. His wife predeceased by three years. One son, Pte Bob Smith. A.I.F., was posted missing last year. Other surviving members of his family are two daughters:- Mesdames T. Lowry, (Apple Tree Creek) and R. Farrington (Sydney). His aged mother Mrs. Martin James resides at Childers. Mrs. L. Zemek (Maryborough) is a sister of the late Mr. Smith.
