The Eastern Cherokee Applications were filed by Cherokee for a share in government reparations in 1908. Applicants were asked for the names of spouses, children, parents, their siblings, grandparents and their siblings, so provide massive amount of genealogical information.
The Dawes Roll identified those Cherokee in Indian Territory eligible for land allotments. These applications often include only spouses, children, and parents names. Images of all those applications (both approved and rejected) are available via Fold3; the originals are at the National Archives.
