John Smith was born about 1805 in Warwickshire, England. His father was also named John Smith.
John was married and became a widower sometime before 1831.
In The Year 1831 in Bishops Tachbrook: "Banns of Marriage between John Smith and Sarah Doughty were published on the Three Sundays underwritten; That is to say, On Sunday the 18th of Sept; On Sunday the 25th of Sept; On Sunday the 2nd of October."[1] Sarah Doughty of Tachbrook married the widower John Smith of Kineton on 11 Oct 1831 in Bishops-Tachbrook.[2]
John and Sarah had three children: Henry Fines Smith (1833-1901), Eleanor (Smith) Oldham (1835-1897), and Thomas Smith (1837-).
In 1841 John Smith Jr (age 35-39, basket maker) lived at Banbury Street in Kineton with his wife Sarah (35-39) and three children: Francis (8), Eleanor (6), and Thomas (4).[3] His father John Smith Sr (60-64, basket maker) also lived at Banbury Street.[4]
In 1851 John Smith (age 46, basket maker) lived at Banbury Street with his wife Sarah (48) and three children: Fines (18, basket maker), Eleanor (16), and Thomas (14, scholar).[5]
In 1861 John Smith (age 55, basket maker) lived at Banbury Street with his wife Sarah (57) and son Thomas (23, masons labourer).[6]
John Smith passed away in 1866 aged 61 years.[7] He was buried in Kineton on 27 Jan 1866.[8]
