Benjamin Franklin Smith Obituary (Worthington Times, January 23, 1924, Worthington, Greene County, Indiana.)
"With Masonic ceremonies the body of Benjamin Franklin Smith, formerly of Worthington, but for the last few months a resident of Flat Rock, Illinois, was laid to rest, Saturday afternoon in City Cemetery. Statements differ as to the cause of his death. Mrs. Smith said he died of pneumonia, after a short illness. The burial permit gave typhoid fever as the cause. The body reached here Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock and was taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Black. Brief services were held there and then the funeral party proceeded to the Christian Church of which Mr. Smith had been a trustee prior to taking his residence at Flat Rock."
