Sarah was born in 1787. She was the daughter of Francis Smith. She married in 1816 to Frederick Y. Roddy in Chesterfield, Virginia. Sarah was mentioned as being a widow in the 1833 will of her father, Lieut. Francis Smith.
She was named in the will of her sister Rebecca Smith, with whom she resided in Chesterfield during the census of 1850. Sarah passed away after 1854.
