SAN ANGELO — Alton Wayne Smith, 62, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, 19 July 2004, at his Lake Nasworthy, San Angelo, Tom Green County, Texas home with his family after a long battle with leukemia. Alton was a Baptist. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in San Angelo. Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, in Shaffer Funeral Home's Pioneer Chapel. ... Burial will follow in Pioneer Memorial Park. Friends and family will be welcome to a meal after the services at his home.

Alton was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Smith and Rosie Lee Smith Davis; one sister, Gracie Hobdy; twin brothers, Troy Lynn and Roy Lynn Smith; a half sister, Quada; two nephews; and a great niece

Alton was survived by his wife, Vicky, of San Angelo; sisters, Lora Luby and Wyanell Smith of Grape Creek; mother-in-law, Joan Stek of San Angelo; stepdaughter, Missie Jones; grandsons, Ross and Lane Jones of Missouri; daughter, Vickie Guzman; and grandsons, Johnathan, Jessie and Lonnie, all of Sabinal, Texas; brother-in-law and wife, Allen and Danell Jensen of Sparks, Nev. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, special friends, and business associates, including John and Carol White.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rahman and his staff for the care given to Alton.
