Biography

Mary Ann Smith (married name Mayo) was born in 1824 in Kingstown, Dublin, Ireland.^[1]

She married Alfred Mayo in 1846 in New South Wales (now Australian Capital Territory), Australia.^[1] Their children were:^[1]

• Alfred Mayo (1850–?)
• John Mayo (1852–1903)
• William Mayo (1855–1936)
• Thomas Mayo (1858–1924)

Alfred died on 20 July 1897 at Duntroon in New South Wales (now Australian Capital Territory).^[1]

Mary died only a few months later, on 9 November 1897, at Majura, New South Wales.^[1] Her remains were interred at St John the Baptist Cemetery, Reid.^[2]
