Biography

Joseph was born on 2 Nov 1890,[1] the eldest child of William Smith and Minnie Mackellow.[2] The 1891 and 1901 census returns show William & Minnie with their growing family living in Boundary, on the Derbyshire/Leicestershire border.[3][4]

By 1911, the family has moved to Overseal; Joseph in now 20 and working as a Blacksmith's Striker at the colliery.[5]

Joseph married Mary Elizabeth Grice in 1914[6] probably at the Ashby de la Zouch Baptist Chapel - there's no record of the wedding for the CoE churches in Overseal or Ashby. His sister Agnes married there, while other family memebers attended the Baptist chapel in Overseal.[7]

In 1939, Joseph, Mary and thier two children were living on Woodville Road in Overseal. He was a roadman, Mary a housewife and thier daughter Muriel a school teacher.[8]

He passed away on 25 Oct 1954.[9] and is buried with his parents in Overseal.[10] Administation passed to Mary in March the following year.[11]

Hello, since the middle name is different across Sources you should put M in the middle name field. "or" doesn't belong in this field. You are already correctly explaining the M in the Bio. Thank you.
