Alfred was born in 1879 in Arkansas,[1] the oldest son of George Smith and Melinda Goatcher. He was married to Thalia Keel. Thalia passed away in 1907 when their only child, Ruby Smith, was about ten months old. Alfred never remarried. He passed away in 1968 in Arkansas.[2][3]
