Biography

Arthur William George Smith was born in Canterbury in 1873 ^[1]

He was baptised on 24 August 1873 at St Andrews Canterbury and was the son of Wiliam Henry Smith and Emily Jane Smith.

In 1886, at the age of 13 he joined the 4th Battalion East Kent Regiment, he had a break in service and rejoined in 1890, and saw service overseas in South Africa ^{[2] [3]}

Arthur died in the Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury on 19 June 1945, probate was granted to Arthur William George Smith, a postman ^[4]
