Hello Alan,

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.

Has the New Member How-To been helpful or left you with any questions?

I am here to help with any problems or queries you may have. To contact me, be sure to use the "reply" link for this comment so that I will be notified. You can also click my name to send a private message, or post a comment on my profile page.

Sometimes links don't work in emails.  If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Ginny ~ WikiTree Messenger

Hi Ginny

Thanks for checking in with me. All is fine, although I realise I haven't been as thorough as I should have been with listing sources. Am currently working back through before I go any further, and updating as many sources as I can, I've also been adding pictures of people where possible.

I will message if I have any problems, thanks again!

Thank you for signing the Honor Code, Alan!

Before you get along too far, please review how to add sources.

Sources are very important here on Wikitree. It is how we show where we got the info and help others find it too.

The easiest way to add sources is to use the handy RootsSearch link on the right side of any profile. There are over 20 resources to choose from; I recommend starting with FamilySearch. Once you find a correct source, just copy and paste the citation provided into the profile. This can go at the end or use the inline citation tool to add it to the biography. It is a box with a C in it above the Edit Text box (when you are in edit mode).

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, let me know by using the "reply" link under my comment, or by clicking my name to visit my profile. From there, you can leave a comment, or send a private message.

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.

Hi Alan

I am pleased to welcome you as a member of the WikiTree family. Your contributions will go a long way to joining the world’s trees together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Please add as much information as you can, with sources, as it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Have fun collaborating on your ancestors

Wendy ~ WikiTree Greeter

PS If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.

PPS Thank you for adding your DNA Test to your profile on WikiTree. Getting Started with DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

DNA at WikiTree provides a visual way for you to find others who have tested and have the potential of having common ancestors. To get the best results, you need to start with yourself and add sourced profiles for your ancestors until you can connect to existing profiles in WikiTree. 24 hours later, your test will have populated on the profiles of your ancestors and their descendants, where others with potential matches may also appear.

Welcome!

This is just a note to say hi and to let you know that I'm available to answer questions about joining WikiTree.

To contact me, be sure to use the "reply" link for this comment so that I will be notified. You can also click my name to send a private message, or post a comment, on my profile page.
