I have traced my Smith name back to Nicholas Smith, born ca 1660, Petsworth Parish, Gloucester, VA and have done YDNA testing with smithsworldwide.org, that supports that lineage. I am also related to Guy Smith, Abingdon Parish, Gloucester, Va. I have Law relatives going back to Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and Boaze (Thomas) going back to Scotland; and Oakes relatives going back to York County, VA. My father and mother were born in the same counties where their ancestors lived in 1750 (Franklin County and Pittsylvania Co, VA). I am qualified for the SAR with members from both sides of my family.

PS Click the green tags near the top of your profile and see others following the same topics you are researching. The more of these clickable tags you add (20 max.) that include surnames, locations, periods of history or other genealogical interests, the more connections you will make and maybe find a few cousins! To edit or add more tags, click on the word “following” or use this link. This page will help you learn more about tags.
