Hi, Cheryl (a fellow Smith...because we’re soooooo uncommon ;-)
I’ve been working on profiles offline and found some areas where I needed to brush up some research before completing those profiles, so working on that. And you know how rabbit holes just appear out of thin air when you start asking questions. ;-]
I discovered the app (wrong term, but can’t remember what you call it right now) for the Chrome browser that converts my Ancestry files into the semi-correct format. This has been a great help and relief, as I was a bit intimidated about making mistakes while converting references and cleaning up extraneous gibble-gabble from the conversion.
WikiTree has a steepish learning curve just to work with the website systems, but I’m getting there. I read the G2G forum almost daily and am learning a lot there, too. I’m going to like it here, especially once I get up to speed on the nuts and bolts stuff.
Thanks very much for checking in on me. I will yell for help if I get swamped.

Thanks for the welcome. I’ve been fumbling around twisting knobs and pulling levers to figure out how things work. When I’ve completely painted myself into a corner, I’ll yell for help. ;-D

I’ll be wandering around for a bit here orienting myself. I do better bumping into walls alone, then going "Hey, help!" I already have some questions and am sure I’ll have more.
I have to get my GEDCom off my laptop to upload it, so that’s for a bit later. Most of my work has been on Ancestry, but I’ve been frustrated by the really badly sourced trees that have been created by just copying other trees without checking. Of course, I did exactly the same thing when I began ;-D That’s why there are parts of my tree that I’m still cleaning up years later.
