John married Ellen Holland on 25 Dec 1832 at Rainford Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Neither had been married before, and both were of the local parish. John was a husbandman. The witnesses were Margaret Pye and Edward Seddon.
Ellen already had a little girl before they married - Mary Holland had been christened on 19 Apr 1829 at Prescot St Mary's (abode Eccleston).
John and Ellen's daughter Alice was christened on 28 Oct 1835 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Eccleston.
Their son Robert was christened on 30 Jul 1837 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Eccleston.
Their son Henry was born in about January 1841 in Eccleston.[1]
By June 6th 1841, the family was living in Springfield Row, Eccleston. John was a labourer. Baby Henry was 4 months old. Elderly Margaret Holland, Ellen's mother, was living with them.
