Biography

Nathan Smith, the son of George Smith and Sarah Unknown, was born 27 December 1656, baptized 8 February 1757, and died 11 June 1726. On 10 August 1682 he married Esther Goodyear, the daughter of Stephen Goodyear and Margaret Lewen. With Esther he had three children: Amy, Andrew, and Obedience. Esther died 9 February 1691. Nathan's second wife was Hannah Brown, the daughter of John Brown and Mary Walker. Their first child, Mehitabel, was born 16 April 1698, suggesting their marriage was likely in 1697. They also had two more children: Andrew and Hannah.[1]
