Biography

Wendell Smith was born on March 26, 1929 in Logan, Cache, Utah, United States. His parents were Wendell Smith and Hilda Wood.

He graduated from Utah State University (Logan, Utah) and served as an officer in the Air Force from 1952 to 1958. He worked with the National Security Agency. He received a scholarship to Harvard and graduated with a Master's degree in Slavic studied. He taught Russian and French at USU. He later moved to Monterey, California, to teach Russian at the Defense Language Institute.

He and his wife, Nina, had one son together.[1]
