We have a brick wall with my 3rd great-grandfather, William Spencer Smith, from Accomack, Eastern Shore, VA.
We may be descendants of Captain Henry Smith, The Meanest Man on Eastern Shore.
There are many family stories of relatives in Crisfield, MD, as well as Eastern Shore, and we still have hundreds and hundreds of relatives in those places to this day. From what I have read, once Henry was run out of Eastern Shore, he fled across the Bay to Crisfield.
My grandfather was raised on Eastern Shore. My great-grandparents owned the mercantile there, until great-grandma died, and great-grandpa Floyd Smith didn't know how to handle the money -- Great-grandma was the brains of the operation.
He bought a ferris wheel right as The Great Depression hit. Our family lost everything.
