Mabel was born in 1878. She was the daughter of Anne Stokes.[1]
In the 1891 census, Mabel was recorded in the home of her grandmother at 3 Kemball Street, Ipswich.[2]
Mabel appears to have been misrecorded as the wife of her uncle Edward Stokes in the 1881 census. She was likely the 2-year-old recorded under the name Ellen (Edward's wife).
