Note N86The 1850 and the 1860 U.S. Census shows George and family living in Taunton, MA. It also shows a daughter, Margaret J. (Martha in 1850 census), born in Taunton, Mass. Since his wife, Margaret, is shown from Ireland in the 1850 US Census, this suggests that George and Margaret met in PEI or Mass. and married possibly around 1844 - 1846. Since daughter Margaret J. is shown as age 3 and born in Mass. (1850 US Census) this suggests that they moved to Taunton, Mass. just prior or on 1847. It is possible they came to PEI first.
The 1860 U.S. Census shows Eli Smith, Brother of George, living in the next visited dwelling.
The 1860 U.S. Census shows Lydia Robinson, of P. E. Island, age 19, living in the same dwelling as George and family. This suggests a connection with P.E. Island.
A record for George Smith as a passanger is found on the Ship Sarah Louise arriving in Boston on October 26, 1850. He is accompanied by a James Smith probably the younger brother.
George and family are found in the 1870 US Census living in Ward 8 of Taunton, MA.
