He married Harriet Elizabeth Roughley on 20 September 1873 at Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia [2] and they were the parents of of Blanche Ada Smith, Albert Edwin Smith, Clara Smith, Alfred Earnest Albert Smith, Lambert James Smith, Victor Joseph Smith, Eveline Susannah Smith, Alice Lyla Smith, Linda May Smith, Archie William Smith, Milton Smith and Grace Smith.
Edwin died on 10 May 1929 at Hornsby, New South Wales, Australia [3] and was buried at Carlingford Anglican Cemetery, Carlingford, New South Wales, Australia [4].
