1760 built a house in Stonington, Connecticut - that is still standing today.[3]
1775 led the opposing forces when the British started raiding seaside towns, specifically Stonington.
c1760 purchased a man known as Venture, allowing his to work for wages. He was able to earn enough to eventually purchase his own freedom. He published his own story in 1798 - A Narrative of the Life and Adventures of VENTURE, A Native of Africa, but Resident above 60 years in the United States of America.. He later purchased his wife and his children's freedom. He went by the name of Venture Smith.
