Biography of Rev. John W. Smith
John was born on Jul. 17, 1803. He was the first child of James Smith andNaomi Deneen of Bedford County Pennsylvania, He was married twice. His first wife's name is unknown. They had the following children: Delilah, Maria, and Levi.
His second wife was Sophia Deshong. They had Elisha, Sarah, William, Catherine, Dennis and Elizabeth.
Preacher John, as he was called, was active in preaching and also organizing and starting new churches. 
Preacher John passed away on Jun. 19, 1865. He is buried in the Bethel Christian Church Cemetery.
