BET 1780 AND 1791
The witnesses to the baptisms of all known children of Peter an Jane were a Peter and Thomas DIDDIP / DIDDIPPS / DIDDUP.
Neither were immediately obvious as witnesses to any of the other RUNCIMAN baptisms in Dunbar around this time, so were possibly relations of Jane's.
Her parents now look to be John SMITH and Betty DIDDUP.
There's a record that by 1813, a Peter DIDDEP was "writer in Haddington" when his daughter Isabella married. She was born in 1793, placing this Peter as born at latest say 1770, which would be a trifle young to witness a 1780 baptism, but he could be older of course[7][8][9]
