I believe that I got my love of model trains from my grandfather Aulay Smith due to the fact that from as far back as I can remember until they moved in the 1960's he would set up a Lionel O27 Train layout up between Thanksgiving and New Years Day that had 4 trains and tracks running thru their living room and dining room.

From first hand knowledge Aulay and Thelma only had 3 children, Shirley (my mother), Gladys, and Diana. The other "children" that show up in some records could be the result of my parents living with them until after the birth of their 3rd child in August of 1956. I know that it was confusing, so much so that when I started calling my grandparents Dad and Mom everyone in the house started calling them Nan and Pops which continued until their deaths.
