Biography

Phidelia Smith was born in western Massachusetts Dec. 31, 1844 and died in Howard, Miner County, South Dakota July 2, 1897.

In 1850 when she was age 5 her family lived in Adams, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. By 1860, when Phidelia was 15, they had moved to Trenton in Dodge County, Wisconsin. She married Alphonso Sylvester in Dodge County on Feb. 26, 1862. They had children between 1866 and 1880. The last of her children was born in Kasson, Dodge County, Minnesota.

Her death in 1897 is recorded in Miner County, SD.
