Mr. Dorman “Cincinnati Kid” Smith, 64, of Cannon, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a son of the late Charlie and Esther Baker Smith born on June 30, 1949 in Pineville.
Dorman was a truck driver and a member of the Scalf Chapel Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed fishing and drag racing.
On December 31, 1981, he united in marriage with Marilyn Hurley at Heidrick and to this union a son was born.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Smith of Cannon; a son, Eric Daniel Smith of Cannon; a step-son, Ethan Phipps of Cannon; several special cousins; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, January 16 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Herby Hoskins, Rev. Sylvester Dunn and Rev. David Shelton officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Carnes Cemetery at Turkey Creek.
Casket bearers will be Jimmy Tomlin, Mark Sloce, Marvin Bray, Terry Doolin, Rusty Hurley, Larry Cain, Scott Mullis and Eric Smith.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday between 5 and 9 P.M. and Thursday after 9 A.M. until the funeral hour.
