Peter Smith was born Abt. 1721 in Ridgefield, Fairfield Co., Connecticut. He was the son of Nehemiah Smith and Elizabeth Clapham [1][2]
He married Jemima Benedict on February 29, 1743/44 in New Canaan, Stamford, Fairfield Co., Connecticut. the daughter of Samuel Benedict, Sr., and Jemima Canfield. [3][4]
He died about 1782.
His inventory was completed on 4 July 1782. Nehemiah and David Smith were the administrators of his estate.[5]
In 1788, the estate distribution was set out to the widow, the heirs of Peter Smith late of New York, Nehemiah, Matthew, Samuel, David, Phineas, Daniel, Jemima, wife of Daniel Olmstead, Tasimasin, and Mary.[6]
