Bio

  • "Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988" says Joanna Smith was b. 22 May 1686 in Salisbury, Massachusetts
... that her father was RICHARD SMITH
... that her mother was ELIZABETH (unk) Smith
  • "The New England Historical & Genealogical Register, 1847-2011 for Joana Smith" shows the marriage between Joana Smith and Philip Flanders, as recorded by "rev Samuel Niles" occurred in Salisbury, Mass on 2 Feb 1709-10. "New England Historical Register for Salisbury, Mass" gives same date but only specifies 1709 as year of marriage. Seems the majority of various other sources agree with New England Historical Register's 1709 in Salisbury.
  • There are numerous records for Joanna & Philip's children: SARAH b: 16 Nov 1710; PHILIP b: 13 Mar 1712/1713; ZIPPORAH b: 4 Mar 1715/1716; JOANNA b: 20 May 1719; ABIGAIL b: 15 Aug 1722; RICHARD b: 6 Apr 1725; ABIAH b: 29 Jun 1728, which I believe I saw were covered elsewhere.
  • while Joanna's vitals page on this show a date of death (appearing in other Joanna (Smith) Flanders profiles, no believable records of Joanna's death have been found.
