Biography

John M Smith was enumerated as head of the household at Fodder Creek Road, Cross Roads, Prentiss County, Mississippi for the January 19, United States Census, 1920. He was noted as born 1886 in Mississippi. He was married, a renter and a farmer on a general farm as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Lela D Smith, son Les Smith, daughter Zelma Smith, daughter Fannie B Smith, son Ucleed Smith and son Madison Smith.[1]

John M Smith was enumerated as head of the household at Ripley and Booneville Road, Beat 4, Tippah County, Mississippi for the May 9, United States Census, 1930. He was noted as born 1886 in Mississippi and married. He was first married at the age of nineteen. He was a renter and a farmer on a general farm as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Lela D Smith, daughter Zelma M Smith, daughter Fannie B Smith, son Euclid Smith, son William M Smith, son Elmer F Smith and son Roy B Smith.[2]

On April 1, 1935, John Smith lived in rural Tippah County, Mississippi.[3]

John Smith was enumerated as head of the household at West Clear Creek and Pinegrove Road, Beat 4, Tippah County, Mississippi for the April 23, United States Census, 1940. He was noted as born 1887 in Mississippi and married. He rented a home and was a farmer as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Lela Smith, son Ealid Smith, son Bill Smith, son Floyd Smith and son Roy Smith.[3]

John M. Smith is buried at Jumpertown Cemetery in Jumpertown, Prentiss County, Mississippi.[4]
