Biography

Alice married Joseph Whipple on 20 May 1684 in Providence, Rhode Island. [1]

Anphillis Smith was born to Edward Smith, called husbandman in Providence Town records, and Anphillis Angell.

She married 1st as his second wife Noah Whipple, son of Samuel Whipple and Mary Harris. Noah died 10 Nov 1703. She is mentioned attesting to the inventory list of his estate as "Anphillis Whipple, widdow of the late deceased Noah Whipple." [2]The death of Noah Whipple must have been not long after their marriage. No proven children were born to their union.

Sometime during the winter of 1707/1708, Anphillis (Smith) Whipple married a second time to Zachariah Eddy, son of Zachariah Eddy and Alice Paddock. It was also the second marriage for Zachariah.

Children of Zachariah and Anphillis (Smith) Whipple Eddy were all born at Providence, Providence, Rhode Island.

  1. Anna Eddy - Born 27 December 1708.
  2. Elisha Eddy - Born 14 November 1710.
  3. Joseph Eddy - Born 14 February 1713.
  4. Samuel Eddy - Born 21 December 1715. Probably died young.

There are also two sons of Anphillis (Smith) and Noah Whipple who are believed to have assumed the Eddy name, they are Enoch and Daniel Whipple.

Smith-7422 and Smith-84483 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents and both lived to adulthood.
