Research Notes

  1. Parents born in Connecticut. [11]
  2. Father's Name: Anson Smith. [1]
  3. Mother's Name: Amy. [1]
  4. Since Hamilton is not specifically named in the 1820, 1830,1840 census records, it is only speculation that he is tallied as one of the unnamed persons, and as such does not warrant a census category for these years, since his inclusion is just supposition; the father Anson would warrant a census category for these years.
  5. "In 1841, Mr. Smith married the former Susan Beecher, but sadly, she died within a year after giving birth to the couple's daughter." [14] Is this Fannie B Batts, b. 1842, found on 1860 US Census? [16] And if so, her last name on the census should be Smith not Batts.
