When james SMITH was born on February 25, 1855, in Kent, his father, daniel, was 33 and his mother, ann, was 33. He married Sarah Ann Belsey on October 3, 1877, in Dover, Kent. They had 11 children in 26 years. He died on June 2, 1935, in Devonport, Tasmania, at the age of 80, and was buried there.
