William was born about 1843. He married Annie Morgan in 1893 in Georgia. When he passed away, he was buried in the Oak City Cemetery, Bainbridge, Georgia. It is believed to be the correct person as the US Census for 1910 lists a William J M Smith and wife Annie living in Decatur County, Georgia, which is where his grave is located.
