Biography

Susan was born in 1805. She was the daughter of William Smithers and Susan Blunden.

She married Henry Garland in Brighton in 1828. ^[1] and they had about 6 children.

Children Henry Garland died young Claudine Garland died young Percy Garland died young William Smithers Garland Susan Garland married Edward Shackleford in London Frederick Oakley Garland was a draper in London and never married. Died in Transvaal, South Africa. Ernest Bartholomew Garland migrated 1839 - 1903 migrated to Cape Town. He was a tanner. business name "Mossop and Garland". Rosa Garland migrated to South Africa 1857. married David Johnstone. No children. She died 1903. Blunden Douglas Garland migrated to New Zealand. Did jail time in England and worked as a barman.

After she was widowed, Susan migrated to Cape Town, South Africa. She passed away there in 1894.
