Nathaniel Smithson was born in Baltimore County, Maryland (parent county to Harford, before it's establishment) in 1755 to Thomas Smithson and Mary Grafton.
His brother, William Smithson, was one of the 34 signers of the Bush Declaration in Harford County, Maryland three weeks before Lexington and Concord signaled the start of the Revolutionary War.
Nathaniel Smithson was born in what was then Baltimore County on his father's farm around 1755. He is listed in the Harford County Census of 1776 as aged 21 living in the household of Thomas Smithson, aged 63; his wife Mary, aged 53; Mary Jr., aged 18; Margaret, aged 16; Cassandra, aged 13 and Archibald, aged 11. [1] The Harford County Tax Records of 1783 show him living in the Bush River Lower Hundred on a tract called "Bell's Camp" (Beal's Camp). Nathaniel was a presidential elector in 1789 and a private in the county militia in 1775. [2]
Nathaniel was married by license to Mary Bull on 24 JAN 1779 and was the father of:
If like the Bush Declaration Org. bio states William Bull Smithson that the parents were William's (the Signer) parents were Thomas Smithson (b. 30 Jan 1712 d. bef. 3 Oct 1795) and Mary Grafton (b. 1723 d. 6 Jun 1812).
And it further states that his brother, Nathaniel married Mary Bull, which does not make sense, since William's middle name is "Bull"?????????? Maybe they were good neighbors.
