Biography

Adam was born in 1886. He was the son of Linc Smitley and Marjorie Miller. He married Dorothy Taylor in 1909.[1] He passed away in 1965.[2]

Obituary

"Adam K. Smitley, 79, of Connellsville Street, Dunbar, died at 10:40 a.m. Sunday in his home. He was born May 5, 1886 at Dunbar, the son of the late Abraham Lincoln and Marjorie Miller Smitley. He was a member of the Franklin Memorial Methodist Church, Dunbar, and U.M.W.A. Local No. 6326 and was a former employee of the Shannopin Coal Company, Bobtown, where he was a blacksmith for 19 years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Dora Taylor Smitley; two daughters, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Papula of Oliver No. 3 and Mrs. James (Thelma) Bryner of Dunbar; two sons, Ray C. Smitley of Uniontown and Norman J. Smitley of Greene County; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John of Shady Grove and P.C. of Dunbar; a sister Mrs. Margaret Gray of Washington D.C. The body will be at Burhans Funeral Home, Dunbar after 7 p.m. today and the services will be held there at 3 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Earl P. Comfer officiating. Interment in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Dunbar."[3]
