Her Hocąk name was given as NoSootchAWinKah (1913 census), which is for Ną̄sųcᵋwįga, "She Touches Wood", which is from ną̄, "tree, wood"; sųc, "to touch, press upon"; -wį-, a feminine gender infix; and -ga, a definite article suffix used in personal names. This is an Upper Moiety name, making reference to the habit of Thunderbirds striking trees with lightning.

In the 1910 census she has another name: NeeHaShaJaWinKah, which is for Nįhašająwįga, "Sliding Water Woman", which is from , "water"; hašają, "slipping, sliding"; -wį-, a feminine gender infix; and -ga, a definite article suffix used in personal names. This is an Upper Moiety name, making reference to raindrops sliding through the air.
