Biography

George Whitfield Smoot was born on 13 May 1792.

George (21) married Frances Aggie Shumate (20) (born on 30 April 1793 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, United States; daughter of Samuel Shumate and Elizabeth Ann (Peppers) Shumate) on 18 November 1813 in Henry, Virginia. [1][2][3][4][5][6]

Their children were:

George's son Gibson Samuel Smoot married Margaret Ann Shell on 21 July 1853 in Tazewell, Virginia, United States.[7][8]

George's son Gilson Saml Smoot married on 21 July 1853 in Tazewell, Virginia, United States.[9][10]

Geo's son Gabril Smoot married Ellen Miller on 22 June 1855 in Wyoming, West Virginia, United States.[11]

In the 1860 census George (age 68) was in Lower Division, Wilkes, North Carolina, United States.[12]

George's son Gilomeal Leonard Smoat died on 18 December 1919 in Walnutgrove, Wilkes, N.C.[13]
