Robert Smyth / Smythe was a beneficiary of the will of his father Robert Smythe, Clothman of Corsham, Wiltshire, the will made on 05 Apr 1555 and proved on 22 Jun 1556.[1] His mother is presumed to have been Agnes Butler.
It is assumed that this Robert was the Roberte Smyth who married Margarett Hulbert on 16 Jan 1569/1570 at Corsham, Wiltshire.[2]
in the period 1571 to 1597, nine children of Robert Smyth were baptised at Corsham, Wiltshire, with a father named Robert Smyth. It is not clear if the same Robert Smyth was the father in all cases. However, the first daughter baptised in 1571 was named Agnes and the first son baptised in 1574 was named Robert suggesting that the first children at least were most probably the children of Robert Smyth, son of Robert and Agnes.
