Biography

He was baptised Andrewe Smith on 01 Aug 1556 at All Hallows, Lombard Street, City of London[1].

Wadmore [2] suggested that Andrew died as an infant, presumably based on the monument for Thomas and Alice Smythe at St Mary's Ashford, Kent which includes the figure of a small child lying at their feet.

However, in the 1869 edition of the Visitation of London in 1568[3] Andrew was recorded as the son and heir of Thomas Smythe, while in the 1963 edition[4] Andrew was recorded as being 12 years and 9 months old at the time of the visitation indicating he was born around 1555/1556. No further records for Andrew have been identified. He must therefore have died in the period 1568-1591 as he was not recorded in the will of his father.
