Biography

A John Smyth, son of John Smyth Esq, was buried on 03 May 1597 at Ashford, Kent.^[1]

It is presumed his parents were John Smythe and Elizabeth Fineux. The Smythe family were possessed of the manor of Ashford and John Smyth Esq would have been an appropriate description for the father at that time.

The parents, John Smythe and Elizabeth Fineux, had eight children, two sons and six daughters. All but three children (Katherine, Elizabeth and Thomas) predeceased their parents.^[2] The identity of a son named John has not been documented elsewhere.
