It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:

Snell-4139 and Snell-3540 appear to represent the same person because: These two Joseph Snells are the same person. Snell-3540 has the correct birth and death dates plus the marriage connections and has not connected his family yet, but the family from Snell-4139 are the correct people and should be connected to Snell-3540. Plus the information about his son-in-law (Waymack Brashear) killing him is correct and will be added to Snell-3540.

Snell-4139 and Snell-3540 do not represent the same person because: Too many differences: date of birth, place of birth, and spouse.

Oops! I was looking at the Father's spouse. You are correct, I believe these are a match.

In the information section for Snell-4139 it has two marriages listed, one to Elizabeth Margaret Miller and one to Elizabeth Clark Mansfield, so it appears that the spouses do match if you see the spouses listed in Snell-3540. The citation from The History of the Pioneer Families of Missouri Part III says that the family removed to Scott County early, but does not indicate a date, thus puts the birthplace of Joseph in question.

What is the source for his two marriages, as well as his birth/death dates?
