Susan Snelson first married Robert Love about 1845 probably in Georgia. They traveled west and settled in Bastrop County, TX. A son, John William, and daughter, Frances E, were born to the family. Robert died in 1851 and is buried in Bastrop County, Tx. Susan and her children then moved to Williamson County, TX - north of Austin.
She married John Harvey Montgomery in 1854. Two sons were born to this union, James Robert "Jim" Montgomery and Henry Walker Montgomery. Her daughter, Frances died in Williamson County. By 1887, the Montgomery and Love boys moved further west to Jones County and became pioneers in the Hodges community - north of Abilene. Later their parents joined them.
John and Susan are buried (on private property) on a hillside to the east of the old Anson & Abilene road about one mile north of Hodges, TX at their own request, as they did not wish to be buried among the prairie dogs in the pasture below the hills.
