When the 1871 census was enumerated, Emma Sophia Colvin was maintaining a household in Chichester Lodge, Piel Terrace, Brighton. She was recorded as a widow, age 64, Annuitant, and born at New Church, Isle of Whight [sic], with three household servants.[7]
