Emma Sophia Sneyd was born in 1806, at Newchurch on the Isle of Wight, the daughter of the Rev. Wetenhall Sneyd and Harriet, his wife.^[1]

On the 10th May 1827, she married John Russell Colvin in Calcutta.^[2][3]

Emma Sophia Colvin née Sneyd died at Brighton in Sussex, on the 19th July 1882, aged seventy-five years.^[4][5]

When the 1871 census was enumerated, Emma Sophia Colvin was maintaining a household in Chichester Lodge, Piel Terrace, Brighton. She was recorded as a widow, age 64, Annuitant, and born at New Church, Isle of Whight [sic], with three household servants.^[7]
