Research Notes

From: "joe mccune" To: "Jim @ Home" Subject: RE: Eubank Date: Fri, 19 Oct 2001 21:26:34 -0500 Hi Again Jim, What I have before me, found in my Grandmother's trunk are three hand written papers. The first one records the marriage of Stephen L. Eubank and Catherine Snyder and the births of their children. Catherine's name is spelled Snyder here then Schneider on papers written by her daughter, Laura Ellen Blair and Snider in her obituary. My aunt who is 89 remembers meeting her. I have Catherine's small table, shawls, sun bonnet, quilt pieces and her photo. Their youngest child, Laura Ellen (Ella) was my great grandmother. I remember her. On the other side of the paper it states "Stephen Lee Eubank's parents were Moses Eubank and Nancy Overstreet. English, born in Virginia. Nancy Overstreet Eubank was born March 31, 1793. Moses Eubank's wife was Emmeline Lee one of the Virginia Lees, cousin to Andrew Jackson. I do not know who wrote this but it was kept with the other two papers. the second paper in Laura Eubank's handwriting and states that "Moses Eubank was the son of Stephen Eubank and Emmeline Lee and was own cousin of Andrew Jackson. The Eubanks came from Bedford Co. Virginia." The third paper entitled "Pedigree Record" in Laura Eubank Blair's handwriting states that Stephen Lee Eubank was born in Virginia "descendant of Lord Eubank of England" and that Nancy Overstreet was a cousin to General Robert E. Lee "his mother was an Overstreet. Nancy Overstreet's mother was Mrs. McNeal and of Irish decent" Also in Laura Ellen Blair's hand writing it states that "Catharine was the daughter of Philip Schneider and Mary Walters (Holland Dutch)" I have a few obituaries and many unmarked very old photos. That is it. I would be happy to send you copies of these things if they would be of use to you. I most definitely would appreciate anything regarding Moses Eubank and his descendants. I do have more on the descendants of Stephen Lee and Catherine Eubank. Sincerely Carole McCune
