Kanawha Co. On this 11 Sep 1885 personally appeared... Leonard Snodgrass, aged 39 years...who was enrolled on 6 Aug 1864 in company C of the 7th regiment of W. Va Cav. Vols. commanded by Col. John H. Oley and was honorably discharged at Wheeling, W. Va., on 1 Aug 1865; that his personal description is as follows: age 39 years; height 5 feet 7 1/2 inches; complexion fair; hair, dark; eyes blue. That while a member of the organization aforesaid, in the service and in the line of his duty on Mud River in the State of W. Va. on or about 25 May 1865, he was out on a scout on Mud River and was attacked by bushwhackers, and received a gun shot wound of left arm, between the elbow & shoulder. Also about the 14th day of June 1865, he received a saber wound of right leg above the knee, while drilling at St. Albans, W. Va. Also about October 1864, after we had drawn horses at Gallipolis, O., I got knocked off the boat into the river, while leading horses off the boat and took a bad cold, which continued while in the service and resulted in Erisiphelas, says eresipelas was the result of wounds & cold, and first appeared about the last of June 1865. Claims a pension for wounds & eresipelas as before stated. Was not treated in hospital...that since leaving the service this applicant has resided in Kanawha Co., and his occupation has been that of farmer...that his residence is Spring Hill, W. Va...

Statement of Leonard Snodgrass...Charleston, 17 Feb 1886. I Leonard Snodgrass hereby make the following statement in answer to said circular. That from date of discharge to 1869 and from Feby 1878 to the present time he lived near Spring Hill, Kanawha Co. Spring Hill during said time and now being his P.O. address. From 1869 to 1878 he lived near Walton, Roane Co....that gun shot wound of left arm was incurred on Mud River, West Virginia, 10 May 1865, and was caused by being fired into by rebel bushwhackers, that the saber wound of right leg was incurred at St. Albans, West Virginia, about the last of June 1865, and was caused by being accidentally cut by a man named Pauley, while drilling. That the eresipelas first appeared in the left arm, in little pimples around the wound of left arm about the last of May 1865, and was caused by getting cold in said wound. That the eresipelas spread from the wound all over him, & got in his face & eyes, but is now confined mostly to his wounds, back, breast, hips, face & eyes, that the co. was with co. G. away from the regt. and had no surgeon with them. that he was treated in camp by Dr. Sam'l Russell, of St. Albans deceased...

Declaration for the Increase of an Invalid Pension. Kanawha Co. On this 1 Nov 1906, personally appeared...Leonard Snodgrass aged 61 years, a resident of Cabel Boone Co....increase of said disabilities as above alledged that said disabilities have increased to such an extent that said claimant is not able to perform manuel labor at all on account of left arm and right [leg] giving away and nearly total loss of eye sight...

Leonard Snodgrass was borned October the 5th 1844. and i further certify that i believe the above age and record a correct one, from the appearance of the Bible as it is very old and badly worn and i believe the record a reliable one.
