Research Notes
Birth date estimated from his having a son old enough to be an executor of his will.
Frederick County Wills lists a will dated Feb. 8, 1787 by a weak John Snoke. “My estate in Maryland equally to children: Judah, Adam, Peter, Mary, Elizabeth [or Mary Elizabeth; unclear because there is no punctuation between names], and John, and also the money due me in the State of the Jerseys. Son Adam Snoke and Jacob Wolfe executors. /X/ Proved March 3, 1787 by witnesses.[1]
Son Adam may be the one named as dying intestate in in an 1864 equity court case over the estate of Jacob Biehl.[2]
There is a Johan Willem Snock listed as being naturalized in New Jersey on July 8, 1730 along with a Hendrick Snock. Were these two brothers who immigrated together from Germany? Or were they father and son?
