Hello Laurie,

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in. The Project operates in a team structure with these participant PIP Teams -- The Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and three Biography Teams. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.

You're currently identified as a member of the Biography Team, working on profiles from your watchlist and other profiles that interest you. The other two Biography Teams work on Abandoned and Popular profiles from the provided lists. Please let us know if you are content with your current Team or would like to change to one of the others.

If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup. We use the WikiTree Discord server #profile-improvement channel for our project. Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.

We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or via private message to one of us.

Sincerely,

Debi Hoag and Kay Knight, Co-Leaders, Profile Improvement Project

Hi Laurie,

Being on the Biography Team leaves you the most freedom. You are meeting the goals of the Team by working on profiles on your watchlist.

Greetings Laurie

Could you kindly help with the following, Data Doctor reports an error with respect to the wife of Adam Snoke [Snoke-30] –. The error concerns an unknown person who is alleged to be his first wife Sophia [Unknown-14477]. When I compared Adam’s Snook’s information on Family Search id KCLD-5JV I found he had one wife, and her name encompassed the names of Sophia [Unknown-14477] and Maria Butterbaugh [Butterbaugh-167], which I believe to be incorrect. I then checked the sources on Family Search, where I noticed the names of Sophia and Maria were used as mothers of Snook children, coincidentally they both gave birth to children within the same time period which reinforced my conclusion that Family Search information was incorrect. What I can determine with sources is the fact that Adam Schnock married Maria Butterachin 1 April 1789 in Rocky Hill, Frederick, Maryland.

Maria had the following children. 1. Johannes Schnock the son of Maria and Adam baptised 24 May 1790, Rocky Hill, Frederick, Maryland 2. Heinrich Snock was born 26 December 1799 in ?? Maryland 3. Susanna Schnogh was baptised 2 May 1802 in Ladiesburg, Frederick, Maryland.

Sophia had the following children – 1. George Michal Schnook the son of Sophia was baptised 4 August 1799 in Creagestown, Frederick, Maryland. (note this profile clashes with Johannes above – Frederick Hill and Creagestown are 6 miles apart, one profile is a baptism the other a birth) 2. Susanna Schnock was baptised 23 May 1801 in Creagestown (note this profile clashes with Susanna above – Creagestown and Ladiesburg are less than 10 miles apart.) 3. Christina Magthlaena Snog was baptised 27 July 1817 in Creagestown. If she was Maria’s child Maria would have been 55 years old in 1817. In summary Sophia and Maria were not the same person. Adams Father Simon had two sons one called Adam the other John Adam, did Maria belong to one and Maria to the other? Any help in resolving this conundrum would be most welcome. Paul

Thank you for participating in past Thons as a member of the Toddlin' Tortoises. If you decide to participate again in January's upcoming Connect a Thon, the registration this time will be somewhat different. (You can read about it here.) We would love to have you join us again, but whatever team you decide to join will be lucky to have you!

Hi Laura, You kindly posted info on Thompson-81738, a Martha Thompson Wakefield about doubting connection to the FAG Source I had associated with her. After checking found you are exactly right!!! I am now trying to sort Martha's profile out and would like to read the 1885 Census for her husband Marion you posted on Martha's profile. Sadly I am not a paying member of Ancestry.com, therefore can not acess the census record. Could you possibly Copy the Census and post in Full form so I can cross check the actual info please? I did try finding the 1885 Census on Family Search and Ancestry.com overview but to no avail. Thank you for helping ou and your input. Margaret Mc Nutt-944

Dear Laurie,

since I didn’t see any reaction from your side about the check-in message from May, I assume you don’t want to remain a project member. If I don’t hear from you within the next 14 days, I will then remove your Germany Project badge. If you do not wish for that to happen, please reply to the check-in message below or send me a direct message.

If this message finds you too late, feel free to re-request the badge by replying to our G2G join post.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Dear Germany Project member,

it's annual check-in time 2023. If you still wish to remain a member of the Germany Project, please reply to this post, by stating this intention. If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.

If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.

In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.

Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.

Thank you so much for signing up with the Toddlin' Tortoises in the January 2023 Connect-a-Thon. We may be slower than many, but we are all still winners!
Hertyl and Spertyl Slowsky Tortoises face each other, with the words “Toddlin’ Tortoises” above their heads, the words “think everyone is a” below that. Beneath that, and between Hertyl and Spertyl is the WikiTree globe — superimposed with the words "Wonderful WikiTreer" — and beneath the entire tableau are the words "and that We're all winners in the end". Because we are. Winners.

Laurie, thanks so much for being part of the Toddlin' Tortoises Team for the July 2022 Connect-a-Thon. Every well-constructed profile added helps to grow a healthier Tree!

Two tortoises, Hertyl and Spertyl, dressed in their spiffy Connect-a-Thon Tuxedo coats, the one on the left holding a top hat in "hand", and the one on the right with a glass of champagne. Between them is a multi-carriage wood or coal burning steam train, near the wheels of which are the words "slow train". Above the train is the WikiTree DNA tree logo, across which are the words "Wonderful WikiTreer". Floating above the logo are the words "Toddlin' Tortoises", and at the bottom of the image is the phrase "We're all winners in the end" — because we are. All winners.
Hertyl and Spertyl just want to say: "What a Wonderful WikiTreer you are".

Hi Laurie,

Not sure if there is a connection here as my family never knew any other Snooks that were related. Never knew Pap's father. I only found out his name on the death cert. My great grandmother was never married to his father. If you have information on Ora (presumed father) I would appreciate any information. Thank you.

You are welcome and welcome to Wikitree.
Laurie, I want to say thank you for your work on Charles James Dobson, my great grandfather. Now I know where my first name came from. He and my grandfather, Charles Walter, participated in the Oklahoma Land Rush. My father was Arthur Leo, the first baby born in the new state of Oklahoma in 1907... I just need to figure out how to document that fact. My ancestors go back to Marsk-by-the-Sea, England, coming to the U.S. via Canada...again searching for documentation.

Again, many thanks for your work. James Dobson-Kelley

Okay wow. That was kind of fun, I did a bunch of the John Hickman descendant profiles, and linked them up as best as I could to existing lineages. I enjoyed working tag team with you, and look forward to doing so again!

Hey thanks for your work on the Hickmans. Just wanted to note, please don't edit quoted passages inline. On Hickman-400 you changed the will to read "...my daughters Ann (maybe Susannah) ..." which suggests the father was unsure of his daughter's name.

Spelling and text in transcriptions should be faithful to the original.

As well, in subheadings, use three equal signs, not two. It helps to format the biography correctly.

Thank you for all your work on the Truman family. Please remember to explain your changes when making changes, especially when the profiles are project managed. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Change_Explanations It makes it easier so that we do not have to check every change you made to see if they were valid.
