Rev. William Snow was born on July 14, 1783 in Providence Rhode Island. His father was Rev. Joseph Snow IV, a prominent Congregational Church clergyman there. His mother was Sarah (Badger) Snow. William's Snow family pedigree goes back to William Snow Sr., b: 1624 in England, who married Rebecca Browne in the 17th Century English colony of Plymouth (Massachusetts), New England. She was the daughter of 1620 Mayflower passenger, Peter Browne. A later Snow descendant married a descendant of Mayflower passenger, John Alden. Hence, all of their progeny are Mayflower descendants by at least 2 passengers from that celebrated vessel.[1]
Rev. William Snow was an educated man and a clergyman, like his father and paternal grandfather. After the War of 1812, he left New England, accepting the call of a new Methodist Episcopal Church congregation in Ontario County, New York. On July 9, 1816, in Seneca, Ontario, New York, USA, Rev. William Snow married Anna Colton, b: October 18, 1783 in Rupert, Bennington County, Vermont. She was a descendant of British Army Quartermaster George Colton. [2] [3]
The family lived in Ontario County, New York, USA. They had 4 children there:[4][5]
Ref. William Snow was a pioneer Methodist preacher in Ontario County, New York state, USA. He was the first pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Geneva, New York. [6]
Somehow the family was not enumerated on the 1850 US Census in New York state and no corresponding family has been found for that year in other states. The 1855, New York State Census, however, does list Rev. William Snow's family as living at "E.D. 2, Seneca, Ontario, New York". This was the Household: [7]

In 1870, Rev. William Snow and wife Anna Snow lived with their daughter Amanda’s family in Seneca, Ontario, New York. The household included Amanda's 3rd husband: George Clinton P. Teall, 68, b. William Snow died early on 6 July 1871 after a long illness. He was nearly 88 years old (birthday was 14 July). Services were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church where he was Pastor Emeritus. His wife of over 50 years survived his passing. Anna (Colton) Snow died on April 14, 1877. Rev.
