Edward Snow was born in January 1771 in Granville, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, an English maritime colony that joined Canada in 1867. His parents, born in the English province of Massachusetts Bay (Cape Cod), had emigrated to Nova Scotia in the 1760s after its Acadian (French-speaking) inhabitants had been forcibly removed when the territory was won by England.[1]
In 1814, Edward and Sophia (Payson) Snow left Nova Scotia and pioneered Jacksontown, Wakefield Parish, New Brunswick. They settled on a farm there. Edward Snow died in March 1857 on their farm. His wife survived his passing. She died on September 9, 1874 on their farm in Wakefield Parish, Carleton County, New Brunswick, Canada.[2]
